Institute of Finance at the Monetary Sovereignty Forum

zdjecie debata platnosci

Date: 28 March 2023

The Institute of Finance participated in the ‘Monetary Sovereignty Forum’ conference. The primary topic of the all-day panels and debates was the role of cash in maintaining the security and continuity of money transfers, as well as the role of security in the area of cashless payments.

During the event, the Director of the Institute of Finance, Łukasz Chrobak, acted as moderator of the debate entitled. “The role of cash in stabilising economic turnover”, which included representatives of the National Bank of Poland, as well as the public and private sectors.

“Cash and non-cash payments are one of the key areas of our lives. For years, we have been able to observe discussions among experts, researchers and economists about the role and development of both. On the one hand, the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that we can shop effectively without having to leave home. On the other hand, the armed aggression behind our eastern border, which has been going on for more than a year, has made us realise how fragile and unreliable the modern network infrastructure necessary for secure and fast cashless transactions can be”, stressed Łukasz Chrobak, Director of the Institute of Finance.

Forum participants included representatives from banks, institutions, public administration and the third sector.

“We are delighted to have been able to participate in such an important debate on cash and cashless payments among leading experts. I am convinced that each such event and exchange of experience has a real impact on the development of security, reliability and economic sovereignty in Poland”, added Łukasz Chrobak.

The organiser of the ‘Monetary Sovereignty Forum’ conference is the Polish Economic Society, whose aim is to hold training and conferences, as well as report development and educational activities.
