The Institute of Finance, in cooperation with Kozminski University, organised an academic conference on the topic of green transformation, dated 18 May 2023. The debate featured Institute of Finance expert Łukasz Jabłoński, PhD.
The European and global economy is in a pro-ecological evolution. Leading energy and industrial companies are already making and planning further investments to increase the use of renewable sources and modern, low-carbon technologies. These processes also entail different challenges. The organisers of the conference “Energy for Inflation. Will the green transformation accelerate inflation?” decided to tackle this issue.
“We are always pleased to see good and effective cooperation undertaken with academic centres. The opportunity to share insights and experiences is extremely valuable. Conferences such as this one are an excellent avenue for public discourse on current challenges”, said Łukasz Chrobak, Director of the Institute of Finance.
What will be the future of the economy in the face of environmental change? To what extent does the supply shock in the energy markets, caused by Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, account for the increase in inflation? Will the costs of the energy transformation be passed on to consumers? These and other questions were answered by conference participants. They included academics, economists and representatives of the energy sector.
One of the panellists was Łukasz Jabłoński, PhD, from the Institute of Finance, who took part in the debate ‘The energy transformation and its costs for the economy’. Other speakers included Wanda Buk – Vice President of the Management Board for Regulatory Affairs at the Polish Energy Group, Professor Grzegorz Tchorek from the Institute of Power Engineering, Krzysztof Kieres – President of the Association of Cement Producers, and Michał Kurtyka, PhD, from Kozminski University.
“Today, the global economy is in a critical position – on the one hand, the development of Renewable Energy Sources is inevitable, it is a necessity. On the other hand, all countries in Europe and the world are confronted with geopolitical problems that also affect macroeconomic issues. During our meeting, we looked at how to reconcile these realities”, emphasised Łukasz Jabłoński, PhD, expert at the Institute of Finance.
